To change the control unit is fundamental to make every kind of set up. Designed and set thanks to the feedback of the Polini racing dept. after many tests, the upgrade of the Polini ECM lets you the choice between 3 maps, thus giving to the final user the possibility to customize even more his/her vehicle. The addition of the valves springs lets the restrictor reach till 10.000 rpm with a concrete result in terms of speed and performance increase to grand a dynamic and smoother driving.
According to the assembly steps of your scooter it is important to choose the specific map developed by Polini:
Map 1
It’s the easiest assembly step since it is enough to remove the original unit and install the Polini ECM for Vespa and Liberty 50 4str Euro5. In fact, it is a plug & play ECM ready to install. Just replacing it, there is an increase of the rpm restrictor from 7.500 to 8100 rpm.
With this map it is recommended to match the Polini variator (241.765) and the Polini muffler (190.0079) but it is also possible to keep the engine as original.
With this map the speedometer increases from 45km/h to 50/53 km/h.
Map 2
With the second map you get into the heart of the customization and you bring your vehicle to an higher level. It is of great importance to rely on a professional since you must work on the engine. First, it is important to know that it is necessary to replace the original valves springs with the Polini ones (supplied in the packaging) that allow to bring the engine limiter to 10.000 rpm without problems to the valves.
Even for this map it is recommended matching the Polini variator (241.765), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini upgrade air filter sleeve (223.0131). But everything works with the original engine too.
With this step the engine increases from 45 km/h to 56/60km/h.
Important! – To replace the springs you have to disassemble the engine: with a low increase in cost you can use Map 3, with very performing final result.
Map 3
At this point you can have a Vespa with sprint soul, with a maximum speed of 70/75km/h. If with Map 2 there has been a significant work on the engine to install the springs, with a little additional step you can configurate your vehicle with Map 3 and to achieve the maximum performance.
It’s with Map 3 in fact that you feel a clear difference.
The base of this step is the 49mm cylinder kit that brings the engine to 80cc (140.0223) with the Polini increase gears (202.1424) that mandatory to achieve the best result.
With this map it is also recommended installing the Polini variator (241.765), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini upgrade air filter sleeve (223.0131).
