Polini updates the ECM „Engine Control Module“ for Vespa, Liberty 50 and ZIP 4Str Euro 5 –

The replacement of the control unit is essential for any type of set up. Designed and tuned thanks to the feedback coming from the Polini racing department after numerous tests and trials, the upgrade of the Polini control unit allows the choice between 3 different mappings, thus giving the end users the opportunity to personalize their vehicle even more.

The addition of the valve springs inside the package allows the limiter to reach up to 10.000 engine rpm with a concrete result in speed and an increase in performance that guarantees a more dynamic and fluid drive.

Depending on the scooter assembly steps, it is important to match the specific map developed by Polini.

Map 1
This is the simplest assembly step, because you just remove the original control unit and connect the Polini ECM, as it is plug & play and immediate to mount. By replacing this part only, it allows an increase in the rpm limiter with the engine going from 7.500 to 8.100.

With this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.737) and the Polini muffler (190.0079), but it is possible to use the factory Piaggio engine.
With this mapping the odometer goes from 45 km/h to 50/53 km/h.
 
Map 2
With the second mapping you get to the heart of customization and take your vehicle to a higher level. It is essential to rely on a professional in the sector when working on the engine. First of all, it is important to know that it is necessary to change the original engine valve springs with Polini ones (already included in the control unit package), which allow you to bring the engine limiter to 10.000 rpm without valves problems.
Even with this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.737), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini improved filter box coupling (223.0131). But everything also works with the original engine.
With this step you go from 45 km/h to 56/60 km/h.
Please note – To replace the springs, it is necessary to disassemble the engine: with a small additional step in terms of costs it is possible to move directly to map 3, with a more performing final result.
 
Map 3 – Specific for Vespa and Liberty 50
This is the step to achieve maximum performance.
The basis of this step is the 49 mm diameter cylinder kit which brings the engine to about 80 cc (140.0223) with the Polini long gears (202.1424) mandatory for an optimal result.
Even with this mapping it is advisable to combine the Polini variator (241.737), the Polini muffler (190.0079) and the Polini improved filter box coupling (223.0131).
 
Map 4 – Specific for Zip
Like map 3, it allows you to reach a maximum speed of 70/75 km/h. If you have already done an important job with map 2 by working on the engine to mount the springs, with a small additional step you can have maximum performance.
The basis of this step is always the 49 mm diameter cylinder kit which brings the engine to about 80 cc (140.0223) with the Polini long gears (202.1429) mandatory for an optimal result.
Even with this mapping it is recommended combining  the Polini variator (241.737) and the Polini muffler (190.0079).
